How To: Lampshading

I'm sure I'm not the only one obsessed with Ariana Grande right? Any song she releases, any outfit she's spotted in I instantly fall in love. She just makes everything look so effortless.

One of my favourite styles she quite often wears is called lampshading and it's when you pair an oversized tee, sweatshirt, hoody, dress or shirt with knee high boots.

It's a look suitable for any occasion, I've worn it when I've gone out for drinks and when I've popped out for errands. It's so versatile. Also, at first, I was really conscious that if I were to bend over then I would be exposed in some way, but the easiest hack is to just wear some cycling shorts underneath. You'll never see them and never have to worry about giving anyone a fright.

So since it is one of my favourite looks, I wanted to share with you all how I lampshade.

My first and favourite outfit is this rust oversized sweatshirt from Missguided and these beige knit over the knee boots from Asos.

It looks, and is, so comfortable but looks super put together too. I have evem worn this on a night out before and it was ideal as I stayed warm and comfortable. It is definitely ultimate Ariana and Kourtney K vibes.

Next up is a more casual look and it's this beige oversized, puff sleeved hoody from Missguided and these brown knee high boots from Zara. The hood on this makes this more casual so I paired with some lower boots, therefore it's easy to wear all day without your feet starting to hurt. I think of it all gals.

I am completely obsessed with this style and I'm not ashamed to admit this was look was stolen from Hailey Beiber. I mean come on, she's just the queen isn't she?

This oversized knit jumper from Zara is an absolute dreaaam. I love it, it's really cosy and can be worn in so many ways. I have often worn it with leggings and low boots but it's also the perfect length to pair with my knee highs too, which can be quite hard to find for someone as short as me.

My final look, and probably the most dressy is a shirt dress. This one is from French Connection and the leather boots are from Asos.

Firstly I want to mention these boots. If you are a short girl, finding knee highs are super hard to find. You can see the beige knit ones I wore in the first picture are really long, which can be quite hard to style but these black ones come up to my knee, so they're perfect for the shorter girl. So worth the money.

I love shirt dresses, I've been wearing them for years now. I just find them so easy to wear and style and they're really comfortable too. Which is what I am all about, you won't catch me wearing anything tight these days. So this look is perfect for a date night or meal out.

There we go, my favourite ways to lampshade. It's such an easy look to achieve, even if you're short like me. For a long time I gave up on this style, until I found what would suit me and my body. Once I did my confidence grew millions, so it's definitely a trial and error process but worth it once you nail it!

Which of these looks would you wear? How do you lampshade?
