Confessions of a Twenty-Something Indian Girl #1

Image
With everything that is going on in the world right now I felt inclined to submit this post that has been sat in my drafts for about 4 years.  Unless you have been living under a rock, then you will have seen that the Black Lives Matter movement is bigger than ever right now and with that, I am seeing so many wonderful people all over my platforms sharing their own stories, all in the spirit of raising awareness and tackling racism.  Before I go any further, in fear of any of you clicking out of this without getting to the bottom. I wanted to show you this dope ass document that Nandini Mitra (@_nmtr on Twitter) compiled which has all the ways you can help support the Black Lives Matter movement from the UK. Please please read it. Link below! Practical ways to support BLM from the UK So I’m gonna do something a little out of the ordinary today, I know I normally hit you with the fashion or beauty posts but I want to delve into lifestyle a bit. The lifestyle of the rich and the...

Isolation Fashion With Femme Luxe Finery

Image
This post is in collaboration with Femme Luxe Finery   So isolation ay? If you read my previous post you will know how much I am enjoying this time in quarantine. I am trying to make the most of it by doing things I could never find the time for previously. It's only because I have found that if I don't keep myself busy, I will spend all day of every day curled up in a blanket in front of the TV, eating endless bags of crisps. So after weighing up the options, this seems the healthier alternative!  Although I am so excited to use this time bettering myself. The thing I am loving the most is the fact I get to wear lounge wear every single day. This is like my dream life, getting to live in oversized joggers, hoodies and lounge wear sets. Can't help it, the cosy life chose me.   As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I have just redecorated my room , so I have been online shopping a lot. Not just for new room decor, but there was a definite need to upda...

Bedroom Makeover

Image
Okay, so I briefly touched on how I redecorated my room in my last post when I mentioned what I've been up to in quarantine, but I wanted to explain in further detail just how easy this was and exactly what I did.  I use the term redecorate lightly, because all I did was shift a few things around and buy some items off the internet to spruce the room up. But it was so easy and has done wonders.  I used to think of my room as just a place for me to sleep and get dressed, but now I find myself spending a lot more time in here and I wanted to be able to shoot content in here for my blog and Instagram.  Stupidly, I didn't take any before shots so you'll have to just take my word for it. The first thing I did was move my bed around. This was hard work and something I had put off for many years. It was so heavy due to my boxes full of clothes that are stored in the bed. But we managed to do it. This now gives me full access to the natural light from the window and ...

Living in Quarantine

Image
Crop Top - Puma, Joggers - Ted Baker, Shoes - Vans  It feels so weird thinking back to the last time I logged on to my blog and began to write a post. Back then I was still going to work, I was eating out at restaurants, I was visiting shopping centre's at the weekend and when I ventured out, I wasn't wearing a face mask and staying 2 metres away from any member of the general public.  But now that I've been in quarantine for about a month, I'm beginning to forget what all of that used to feel like. Excluding  the obvious downside of not being able to see my family and friends, I am truly living my best life as  I now have so much time for myself, that I struggled to find before.  I wanted to share a few of the things I have been up to, as I know how difficult this time can be. Sometimes I'm so oblivious to what's going on outside of my own home, I'm here enjoying what feels like a very long weekend and then I turn on the news and remem...

What I've Learnt From My Favourite Leading Ladies on TV

Image
I watch a hell of a lot of TV, and American sitcoms and dramas are probably some of my favourites. You often see criticism from the media that there isn't enough shows with the leading characters being female, so I wanted to narrow down the women that have inspired me and taught me lessons on TV and just reiterate why it is so important for us fellow women to encourage and support those who do have their own TV shows.  Firstly, is my all time favourite TV show which sadly came to an end last year: The Mindy Project. Mindy has taught me countless lessons, that there is no way I could list them all, so I will tell you the one that is most important to me. The Mindy Project taught me being Indian is empowering af. My culture isn't something I have always been proud of, and in fact I used to be embarrassed by it. Ultimately it boiled down to being in a school of predominantly white children. I never saw Indian women being bigged up or doing great thing, the only time I ...
